Marrabentando is a 2004 musical documentary, covering Marrabenta, the national music of Mozambique. Young musicians from Mozambique, who usually play Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop, join a group of old men who are stars of the Marrabenta, the traditional Mozambique folk music. Together they form a band called Mabulu and mix their different music styles. The “Old Glories”, as they are affectionately called by their fans, sing songs that describe the sad and funny details of their everyday lives. Produced by Contracosta Produções, Catembe Produções, and Íris Imaginações. Directed by Karen Boswall. Presented by Bristol Radical Film Group and Bristol Link with Beira.

LEXXI invites North London-born,Brazilian-British,Bristol based artis tAÆE aka Jair makes “Percussive club slammers and Baile Funk movers” that are helping to fuel the Brazilian-British connection. The inspiration behind AÆE’s musical heritage comes from his father & family from Brazil who lives in Salvador, Bahia - delving into the different genres from the country including Samba & Bossa Nova to Baile Funk he aims to take you on a journey through the different styles and find a connection between that and the electronic dance music of the UK.

Tropanka
Tropanka are a collection of some of the UK’s finest and most passionate folk musicians who specialise in the exhilarating music of Eastern Europe, from the heartbreak of Yiddish laments to the insatiable groove of Macedonian wedding music - and everything in between. Tropanka is a type of dance from Bulgaria, which literally means “the stompy one”.

EASTON PUNK FESTIVAL 2025
We're back baby! Third year on it and we keep getting bigger and better. We're the only and the OG BS5 punk weekender.
Expect three nights of music and mayhem spread across the unholy trinity of our BS5 punk venues: The Chelsea, The Plough and The Lion.
Three local promoters will be taking over each venue and serving specially selected line ups and vibes to see you all through the bank holiday weekend.
